Pianist for School Choir
During a Christmas choir concert last year, something crazy happened- an owl flew into the cables of our auditorium. All of a sudden, the lights went out and all the power in our building went off, which meant the microphones and instruments that were hooked no longer worked. We were all in shock, this has never happened before (even for our teachers!) and none of us knew what to do. The teacher dismissed us into “break” while they tried to figure things out.
Because of the delay, the pianist we hired for the show couldn't stay any longer, which is why he had to leave and so we were now lacking a pianist. That’s when I stepped in. Before the “break” was over, I told the teacher that because I knew how to play piano, I could sight-read the rest of the music. She immediately handed me the music and I quickly got to it. After everything was finally fixed, I started to play the music. Although it was a crazy experience, I am very thankful for it. Also, because of this, I am now the official pianist for our choir. Yay!
