Over the summer, I had a UX Design internship at Kickback.chat. During my UX Design internship at Kickback.chat, I learned a variety of tools that helped me create a variety of projects. I took this internship to expand my interest and knowledge in the field of UX design as well as work with a start-up to understand the prevalence of UX design in the company’s interaction with its users. In this internship, I learned a multitude of UX Design rules and familiarized myself with the regions of strategic planning, game design, web design, marketing posts, interface design, and icon design. I also gained a lot of hands-on experience from using tools such as Figma and Webflow and creating plans using Miro and other tools.

The tools I used in this internship.

Projects

One project I am especially proud of is my web design. In this project, I mostly used the tool Webflow. I utilized Webflow to create a “Pricing” page and “Blog” page for Kickback. I added headings, div blocks, buttons, images, and text blocks. I also made these sites responsive, so that if you went on the website using your phone or tablet, these pages would still look nice.

I also enjoyed working on the interface design project. In this project, I designed interfaces for Kickback. For this, I used Figma to create the interface for Kickback’s app, and for the whiteboard function for Kickback. The first image below demonstrates “Choose Team” feature; since Kickback is all about making meetings between family members and friends more fun and friendly. My function allows these teams to create and choose teams to encourage games.

The second interface I created was for a whiteboard function on Kickback. Along with encouraging friendly games in between friends and family, we also want to give them the similar function of a whiteboard on Zoom, just more user friendly.

Another project that I found interesting was marketing design. Previously, I didn't know the platforms that

The platform that I enjoyed using the most was Webflow. I enjoyed how user friendly the whole website creation process was; I was able to create my portfolio of all the projects I had created using Webflow. Here is my Portfolio:

Reflection

I learned a lot about myself through this internship. Although many tools, such as Figma and Webflow, were difficult to learn in the beginning, I began to understand more and more on how they functioned as I increased the amount of time spent practicing design on them. I didn’t give up during this process; instead, I put more effort in the areas that I didn’t have as much of an understanding. I learned that I’m a lot more mentally stronger than I perceived myself. I persevered through the obstacles- mainly understanding each application/tool and how to use them in design.

This internship definitely helped me realize that UX design, specifically website design, could be something I major in or a potential career path I could take.
